Well I got the parts for the bike. Picked up the gasket for the clutch cover, which happens to be one of the main gaskets. Also, picked up the rebuild kit for the clutch lever. Team Powersports called a little while ago and told me the clutch rebuild kit was in. Will pick up that today or tomorrow. Will have to ask about the turn signal pieces that I need. Seeing that both on the right side are busted off. I am glad that one of my awesome friends is reading this blog. At least I know that someone is reading. I do have two other blogs, but don't feel the need to write on those now. One is www.aftermathmetal.blogspot.com and the other is www.moreinker.blogspot.com which i haven't wrote on those for a while. When i come up with something I will write on those. But for now will stick with this one. Not the change the subject but has anyone tried the new Via coffee from Starbucks. The tribute blend. It is awesome. One of the questions that keeps arising in my head is why did I do this? Buy the Bike. Work on it. One of the answers is that I love my wife dearly and truly. I wanted to give her something that is hard to describe when you are piloting your own bike. You can't put it into words. It is something in this crazy life that we all need. We have all of this stress from money issues, people issues and whatever issues. Something as simple as going for a ride can change all of that. At least that is what I feel or felt whenever I took the Harley out for a ride. Will be working on the bike tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it road worthy. Will have to get it registered and put some insurance on it also. Should do it the right way or you will get burned by the law. Laws are put there for a reason. That could be a whole nother blog. Time to go.

Next step for the bike is a new clutch and a rebuild kit for the clutch master cylinder. Checked out some places on the web. But I think I am going to get it all from Team Motorsports in Depere. Need to keep the businesses in town here. It will cost a little more. But, in the long run of things it is important to keep these local businesses in business. I could get it all online, but, the savings is minimal. All together, the cost is about the same. Besides I like looking at the new bikes when I go there. Going to spend about $150. Plus, I saw a couple of saddlebags there. And a small bag for the front of the bike. I don't want to get carried away, but some of that would be fun to add. C Ya.
It is interesting in our lives the choices that we make. Was listening to NPR yesterday on the Kathleen Dunn show about a book titled "The Social Animal" by David Brooks. Alot of the choices that we make are subconscience. We don't even know why we make them. Alot of it is intuition. So why am i talking about this on a bike blog. I think there might be other reasons why I bought this bike. One is I wanted to "restore" it. I also believe that i wanted to bring back some of the past. 1983 was a good year. Just graduated from high school the year before. Was working at Red Lobster. I was a bus boy or a host or something like that. It was all good. The world was all good. No 911 yet. No turmoil in the middle east. Gas prices were great. At least it was good for me. But, under it all, things were starting to brew for the situations today. I made the choice to go to Red because I needed a job. My mom knew the manager there. So I applied. Little did I know that, that choice would be one of the major starting points in my life. Another reason for the bike is at this point in my life I feel I need to bring something back to life. Need to restore it to riding condition. Somewhat of a purpose maybe. It will be fun and also a learning experience. I have a great life now. Don't get me wrong. I have an awesome loving wife. Who, hopefully, when I give her the bike won't throw me out in the street. I have my health, at least from what I know. I am not 20 any more. Found that out last friday when I went to a concert in Milw. My daughter is also awesome. I can't say enough about her. I am very proud of her and all of her acclompishments. My friends right now are the greatest friends that i have ever had. I love them all. So, back to what i was saying before about bringing something back. I think one of the most important things that needs to come back is God. I haven't talked to him in a while. Now we are on a talking basis and things are changing. For the good. Going to get the priorities back in order. First being God. I will stumble for a while with old habits, but those will slowly go away. Back to the bike. Don't get me wrong I have another bike. It is a Harley. That will always be the priority. The Magna will something to tinker with. I am not worthy to tinker with the Harley yet. I love the Harley. Even though it is impossible to love an inaminate object. I found God when I was a kid, lost him for a while, found him again. Now it seems that I need him more than ever. To try and figure some things out. If he was with me all of this time, I wouldn't have to figure anything out. Time to go. C Ya.

Well we are off and running. Literally. First off didn't think I would have a bike that runs at all. But after tinkering for a while she runs just fine. Had to purchase a battery. That was $30.55 from our great Fleet Farm. But, I had a gift card to FF for $25 so the battery only cost $5.55-SCORE! Also, needed antifreeze-$6.49. Oil-10.05. So, that all added up to-$22.09.

Then yesterday, I added 4 new spark plugs and some Seafoam to the gas. That was-$14.28.

So, so far there is the cost of the bike, gas to get it, some oil, antifreese, sparkplugs and seafoam. Plus my help from DT. Total invested is $458.37.

Now, I need to get a clutch kit and a clutch lever rebuild kit. Those will cost a little money if I am going to get this thing road worthy.

She will also need some TLC. That will come when I get the rest.

Money

Bike was $400. Gas to get bike was $22. Will have to insure it and also get a new title for it. Don't know how much that will be. Also, new battery-$70, and clutch kit-$80. New tires-$120. That might do it. Some cosmetic things. Clean her up and see where we are. Will have to clean out the gas tanks and do some carburetor work on it also. That shouldn't cost too much. Will have to see.
